The Governance Board

What is it?
Sandy Springs Middle School Governance Board (GB) is a community leadership team
comprised of the principal, 4 parents, 3 teachers, 1 staff member, 2 businesspersons
and three student council members who work together in developing and implementing
plans for school improvement as well as ensuring that the Charter goals are being met.

When are the meetings?
The Governance Board meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30am in the
Media Center. Meetings are always open to the public and we would love to have
parent input.

What are the duties of the GB?
GB provides advice and recommendations to the school principal, and where
appropriate, to the Fulton County Board of Education on any matter, including
curriculum, school budget priorities, community use of facilities, and most importantly
helping to improve student achievement. The purpose of GB is to provide support and
assistance for teachers and administrators, make stakeholders a part of the schoolbased
decision-making process, share ideas for school improvement, and create
understanding and respect for each other's concerns.
